001
01. Astronaut [MP3:(full song)]
02. Rollercoaster
Hailing from Germany, Dawnbreed provide the listener with two of their final
songs of mature rock. As Bottlenekk described them, Dawnbreed sound like the
bastard son of Blonde Redhead, Monorchid and the Jesus Lizard. Dawnbreed was
officially put to rest, but the band continues on as Monochrome. This 7"
was recorded in May of 1997. Out Of Print.

"walking in on your parents having sex." Recorded in December of
1998.

General Info: No one is
completely clear what the motivations of the loose-knit organization known
alternately as the Milemarker Collective, the Milemarker People's Liberation
Army, or the Milemarker Entertainment and Reprogramming Consulate are, and
attempts at pinning down this agenda and its mode of implementation have
proven frustratingly futile to scholars and ethnomusicologists attempting to
track their virtual supervirus of cultural infection. Early reports, though
haphazard and scattered, mention violent performances, broken instruments,
self-immolation, spattered blood of both performers and unwitting audience.
Disorienting lights and soundscapes, strange garb and unsettling chanted
mantras combined to seal tight the membrane of mystery around these young
rebels. As word spread, and (as is the nature of words) solidified into the
formal language of labels and cliches, the collective only veered more
wildly, confounding audiences searching for rote predicatability with
performances conducted behind blackscreens, video projections of
simultaneously teleconferencing band members, and concerts carried out entirely
by automated robots of the group's devising. The actual music seemed at times
chaotic, improvised noise, at other times ice-cold with synthesized
contrivance. Manifestos and footnoted reference guides to the philosophical
and political undercurrents of these shows were distributed in such volume
that truly diligent followers of the group soon found themselves too busy
underlining important passages to attend the performances themselves. All
songs were recorded during 1997 to 1999.

"Future
isms" was originally released by point the blame records which was based
in Canada, however point the blame is now no longer a label. Stickfigure has
now acquired the rights to "Future isms". Anyhow, "Future
isms" was milemarker's long lost second full length. "Future
isms" is considered by many to be milemarker's new wave record since a
lot of the songs posses a very contemporary new wave edge, because this is
the first full length where milemarker used keyboards. Finally, "Future isms"
was also milemarker's last record with just the original line-up, featuring
Ben Davis. Originally released in 1998.

Finally, after a delay of over a year,
"abracadaver" has been repressed on cd. The repress has been
repackaged in a jewel caseand remastered so this version is definitely
improved over the previousversion. For those who are not familiar with the
party of helicopters, their second full length "mt forever"; made
spin magazine's top 10 records ofthe year in 2000, and their new 2xcd is
coming out soon on troubleman. Asfor what the party of helicopters sound
like, "abracadaver" is the fulllength that started paving the way
for their moterhead/black metalinfluenced brand of in your face rock and
roll. "Abracadaver" was recorded and originally released in 1997.

07. 3 3/4 stars
08. Apollo Liftoff
09. Audition
10. Darkroom
Death Of Marat - Unwound covers Joy Division - a strange
but concise description for the Phoenix based three-piece, Death of Marat.
Members John Brandon, Mike Juliano and Jef Wright construct a delicate
balance of modern off-kilter musicianship, smoothly blending it with the
early Goth and New Wave sounds of The Birthday Party and Bauhaus. The trio's
sophomore release, "All Eyes Open", delivers 27 minutes of dark,
introspective post hardcore. "All Eyes Open" walks a fine line of
frustration and urgency, contrasting catchy hooks and pop melodies with arty
noise and sober moods. Death of Marat create well-structured dark pop that
conveys an originality all its own. Formed in 1997 under the name Mars
Observer Mission, Juliano and Wright originally started as a two-piece,
releasing their first split 7" with Sea of Cortez. Brandon joined the
group in 1998, and soon after the three released their self-titled 7".
Death of Marat also appears on a split 7" with Half Visconte and on two
local Phoenix compilations: "Libations Unlimited" and "Not One
Red Light". Their debut album, "The Shattered", was released
on Satellite Transmissions in July of 2000. "All Eyes Open" was
recorded and released in 2002. Out Of Print.

I would set myself on fire for you
s/t - CD
stickfigure 007
tracks:

02. chinese freeze tag [MP3:( full song)]
03. clayton
04. this is not mine/
05. a small world
06. the first word that comes to mind
07. the universe had expanded so enormously
08. we are in favor of closure
georgia's I would set myself on fire for you debut cd
consists of six tracks of melodic, pretty screamy hardcore that definitely
reminds the listener of old still life meets inkwell at points. I would set
myself on fire for you has garnered numerous comparisons to georgia's
portrait, most notably because of the presence of an viola player as well.
However unlike portrait I would set myself on fire for you give the listener
still life/inkwell inspired melodies complete with two male vocalists and one
female vocalist to compliment the mix. Also included on the cd are two
excellent noise/athmospherical tracks. Packaged within a silkscreened
cardboard sleeve. Recorded during the summer of 2002. Released August 2003.

stickfigure 008
tracks:
01.All My Chances [MP3s:( full song)]
02. Junction at Barcelona
03. Less Sugar
The final three
portrait songs are available on this 7”. Atlanta’s Portrait
recorded these three tracks before portrait decided to call it quits in mid
2001. These three tracks are definitely their most mature and best songs.
Very good melodic screamy hardcore that will appeal to fans of portrait, as
well as saetia. Recorded in June 2001. Members now serve time in Airoes,
Electrosleep International and The Gates of Berlin. Currently Out Of Print.

16. Silver Line
Hailing from somewhere in between the mountains of Virginia and the city
bustle of Philadelphia, Christopher R. Coello (better known as .you.) creates
sounds for the analog ear in the digital year. Consistently eluding the
traffic jam of laptop junkies in the electronic music realm, .you. takes it
all back to the power of the home multitracker and the aesthetic thrill of
live performance. Influenced by deaths, malfunctions, breakups, breakdowns
and breakbeats .you.'s debut album "i am you" calls forth
everything from IDM to downtempo to electro to glitch to experimental to
whatever aptly named cliche that is flooding the market these days-- all
through an ambient scope. Completely free of computerized sampling and
manipulating, "i am you" was recorded entirely on an 8 track using
a veritable aresenal of analog synthesizers and drum machines. The end
result??? 64 minutes of diverse electronic music suitable for dancing,
thinking, driving, sleeping, living. File under electronic between Aphex Twin
and Z. Chris was a former member of providence union. .you. was known as
airmail as well. Recorded during the Summer of 2003.

Coulier "call
and response" 7"
stickfigure 010
1. Call and Response
2. Fuck Fuck Fuck [MP3: (full song)]
Coulier (pronounced coo-le-ay) are a relatively new (circa 2004) band from
athen’s, georgia. Featuring Navid (from camaro crotch) on drums and
Steven (I would set myself on fire for you) on bass. The two tracks presented
on this debut 7” showcase coulier’s angular, melodic screamy
hardcore style. Harkening to such older bands as ordination of aaron, early
lifetime and early braid, coulier give the listener two tracks of melodic and
catchy songs. Recorded september of 2003.

eNTERTAINME.nt
"safe at one" 7"
stickfigure 011
tracks:
01. Safe At One [MP3: (full song)]
02. the Queen's Beasts (suffer fools)
“safe at one” is the debut single from
atlanta's very eNTERTAINME.nt. eNTERTAINME.nt have existed for a couple of
years as of early 2004, however eNTERTAINME.nt has been spending that time
refining their sound and solidifying the membership of the band. Sonicly,
eNTERTAINME.nt draw upon a wide range of influences including Bauhaus, joy
division, radiohead, U2 and brian eno as well as more modern underground
influences such as the love life and the vanishing. Two songs are presented
for listeners with this 7”: “safe at one” and “the
queen’s beasts”. Both tracks posses a dark pop backbone complete
with swirling, graceful keyboard melodies. Some fans have described
eNTERTAINME.nt as U2 covering the love life. Recorded during Summer and Fall
of 2003. Out Of Print.

Thoroughbred
"s/t" 7"
stickfigure 012
tracks:
01. Levis Song [MP3: (full song)]
02. Fire Came Down
This
is the debut single by local Atlanta
“supergroup” thoroughbred.
Thoroughbred features craig Dempsey (the forty-two, at the price of
the union and the weight) on guitar/vocals, luke gilbert (at the price of the
union) on bass/vocals and Kelsey Wilson (the weight) on drums. Sonicly, thoroughbred are hands down the
loudest band in the atl. having garnered numerous sound complaints when
performing. As for the music, think
heavy and thick! Thoroughbred take the
song writing of early 90’s DC bands as hoover and use that style to
write heavy southern rock tunes. Think
hoover covering southern rock anthems! Recorded during Fall of 2003.
Good.

The Blessed
"again, with hate" 7"
stickfigure 013
tracks:
01. Again, With Hate [MP3: (full song)]
02. Lazo Dorado
Rising
from the ashes of Read Palms (who disbanded late spring of 2003) the Blessed
are a four-headed rock and roll implosion from the stagnant swamp that is
Wilmington, North Carolina. The
blessed are a ray of sunshine falling on both
Zombies and Stooges, the Shangri-las in drag singing Son House songs
with Leonard Cohen and Otis Redding, a third eye dripping with rotten Cream
and the cherry red blood of Groundhogs.
The Blessed brew a night tripper’s love potion of hatred and
ecstasy, shaking down the line between the shadows cast on the windows of
childhood and the dying whimper of conscious thought. Two songs are present on this 7”. The
Blessed are relocating to Boston. This 7" was recorded during Late
Winter of 2004.

21. Threefold
22. Learn (?) To Earn
23. Memri Chases Its Tail
24. Skin Trade
25. Turning Wheel
26. Logan's Run
27. Security Blanket
Atlanta’s
blame game have been an active band for about five years as of Summer of
2004. This cd compiles everything
that blame game has ever released.
Featured on this cd are six new songs which were recorded in November
of 2003; the eight songs which are present on the split lp with zann; the
nine tracks which were recorded in December of 2001 - four of which were
released as the blame game 7”; and there are four additional tracks
which were recorded in late 1999 as a demo.
All told there is seventy-seven minutes worth of music on this
cd. Blame Game’s sound has
matured from a spastic grind/crust to mohinder-esqu manic screamy hardcore to
their current very original don caballero meets captain beefheart meets
screamo sound.

Spiritworld "soul...sold it"
7"
stickfigure 015
tracks:
01. Soul..Sold It [MP3:(full song)]
02. Cherry
NYC’s
spiritworld are a four piece that originally formed in Atlanta, ga.
Spiritworld made the move to NYC in order to increase their profile.
Spiritworld originally formed in 2002. The two songs on this 7” accurately
display spiritworld’s fierce in your face raw but tight punkish rock and roll
stylings. Drawing upon such wide ranging influences as refused, at the drive
in, guns and roses and the new york dolls, spiritworld succeed in crafting a
unique raw but still deadly and sleek rock sound. The title track “soul…sold
it” totally captures the listener with it’s catchy grooves and tongue in
cheek lyrics – “it’s only rock n roll if it is out of control” – “we can’t
die young because we have records to sell” which are screamed with complete
passion. The b-side “cherry” delivers where the vast majority of b-sides on
most singles fail. “cherry” showcases a darker/experimental side of
spiritworld which definitely showcases such influences as refused and at the
drive in, whereas “soul…sold it” is a more straight forward rock track.

09. Straight-laced With Arsenic
10. Last Chance, Split-Second Save / FESICAvsEQ
11. (Cain Tuck)
12. The Great Tomorrowland Famine [MP3:(full song)]
Electrosleep International
formed during 1999 and are based within Atlanta, georgia. This cd documents
all of Electrosleep's recorded material during the time period of 1999-2002.
Due to drummer Nathan Ivey departing the band in 2002 there was a brief
hiatus until 2003 when the replacement drummer Jeph Burgoon (portrait,
airoes, the kossabone red) joined. Electrosleep are definately one of
atlanta's better kept secrets. Musically electrosleep assault and dazzle the
listener with dueling guitars, cascading keyboards and manic vocals. With
such song titles as “our fates were sealed the day the word party
became a verb” you know this is good. Critics will claim that
electrosleep are copying such bands as hot hot heat and the red light sting.
However, one needs to remember that electrosleep had written the vast
majority of this material by early 2000, before any of the aforementioned
bands even existed. Keep in mind that most releases of Atlanta bands take
years to be released. And finally, electrosleep international are still a
VERY ACTIVE band. This cd was released Fall of 2004.

12. I'm Down with Brown Town [MP3:(full song)]
somewhere
between grindcore and cock rock, irony and sincerity, brute strength and
smart-ass charm is coulier. After a year and a half of line-up changes and a
significant creative shift, Athens, georgia’s most over the top power
trio presents to the public their debut full length. Unafraid to pay homage
to their guitar hero roots, dueling guitarists adam newman and brion kennedy
rarely shy from an opportunity to engage in an Iron Maiden style harmony or a
squealing pinch harmonic. Drummer Navid Amlani (ex camaro crotch!) keeps the
the duo grounded with a furious mix of rhythms ranging from heavy to heavier.
The whole mix is tempered with a liberal smattering of jarring time changes
and dizzyingly mathy breakdowns. Vocals for the most part have been abandoned
because they would have gotten in the way. Released in January 2005.

17. Airoes In London
Airoes is an ex
member of PORTRAIT. Airoes is Jeph
Burgoon. Jeph Burgoon has been an
illustrious and interesting figure on the underground Atlanta
DIY scene for the past eight plus years.
Jeph was the emotive vocalist of Portrait, the drummer for the
kossabone red, the drummer for Shake Off! and is the current drummer for
Electrosleep International. However
for the past three years (starting in 2001) his main project has been the
black aux/airoes. With the imminent
demise of portrait on the horizon, jeph decided that he needed a change in
musical direction, so he started venturing in the realm of electronic music
under the moniker of the black aux.
After a year of playing house shows to three people, the black aux
split into the black aux and airoes.
The black aux became jeph and leslie grace and after the split the
black aux dazzled audiences for about six to nine months with jeph’s
bass driven poppy but very dancy devo meets kraftwerk in a blender sound
complete with Leslie Grace’s vocals.
The black aux has been on permanent hold for the past two years due to
life’s complexities, but by no means is the black aux officially
over. It could be revived at any
time. Airoes is the bastard offspring
of the black aux. While the black aux
focused on the poppier, softer side of jeph’s burgeoning electronic
talent, airoes kept it punk. Initially
airoes pummeled the listener with thirty to sixty seconds songs of outright
harsh music that sounded like the bastard child of merzbow meets hip hop
covering abba. Needless to state that
shows were an maelstrom of bodies and all sorts of flying objects including
lit fireworks and cd’s. We are
seriously surprised nobody went to the hospital. Over the past two years Jeph mastered and
fine tuned airoes songs. The problem
was that while the live show was over the top, on record the songs were
definitely lacking and jeph did not want to fall into the “atom and his
package i will only listen to the cd once” realm of music. After two years of evolving, airoes has now
entered the recorded realm. This cd
features sixteen tracks of pure airoes insanity. Airoes sound has matured into a virtual
amalgamation of merzbow, abba, hip hop, dat politics, blectum from blechdom,
I am spoonbender and more complete with a total punk rawk spasticness. The last song on this cd is a cover of
“werewolves in London”. Also featured on this cd is “rabbit
economics” which is a massive fifteen minute blast of airoes remixing
blame game. Intense. Released in
January 2005.

Snowden "black eyes" 7"
stickfigure 019
tracks:
01. Black Eyes
[MP3:(full song )]
02. Good News
Snowden
release their first self titled EP during the late fall of 2003. The ep
featured six songs drenched in effects & emotion, with a sound
referencing such artistic visionaries as Radiohead, Interpol, and The Cure.
Jordan Jeffares, founding member & principal songwriter, blends reverb
saturated guitars & keyboards for a lush sound, anchored by
unconventional bass hooks & intriguing rhythms.
Jeffares began "home" recording music while attending school at the
University of Georgia
, in Athens , Georgia
. Dealing with a failed college romance, writing & recording music helped
fill the void. Lyrics developed from years of political science classes,
religion, and classic introspection. With much encouragement from friends
& family, Jeffares moved to Atlanta , Georgia
in the summer of 2003 to pursue his vision of beautiful sound. He quickly
found four other like minded musicians, who were all equally astounded by the
amazing demos & untapped talent he possessed. Since Snowden’s
inception, the band has gone through some lineup changes, but now has four
solid musicians who are all equally adept musically & artistically. Taking reference from the book Catch 22 by
Joseph Heller, "Snowden" began playing out within only a few months
after structuring Jeffares' songs for a live setting.
The “black eyes” single has been released by
Stickfigure to serve as an advance single for the future snowden debut full
length to be released TBA.
“Black eyes” showcases snowden has matured immensely since
their debut six song cdep while still featuring influences from such sources
as My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Interpol, the Cure and Joy Division among
others. Released in March of 2005. Currently Out Of Print.

Blame Game "honey and salt" cd
stickfigure 021
tracks:
01. Lemon Drops
02. Slidin' Highway
03. On Waiting
04. Truly Wash Yourself [MP3:(full song )]
05. Rope's Whim
06. Children are Funny Characters
07. Honey And Salt
08. Basilar Membrane
09. Subtle Parts
Beautiful and nauseating, jazzy and
fierce, tumultuous and contained, precise and loose...one of these adjectives
could be applied at any given point during one of Blame Game's sets. Atlanta's
Blame Game is a band of extremes that somehow always makes sense. For those
in the audience, the meticulous attention to detail displayed by the band's
compositions (while retaining a strong attachment to playing loose when
needed) is apparent from the get go. Anchored by the rhythm section of Alex
Lambert on drums/sax (also a member of free jazz trio Lie and Swell) and
Chris Ware on bass, the band defies nausea-inducing easy labels by giving the
listener a quick ride through their assorted influences. In just one song,
faint glimpses of Captain Beefheart, Ornette Coleman, and Don Caballero will
appear but that glimpse is quickly washed away as you realize that you are
seeing something more substantial than a band with great influences. The mark
of a great band is one that takes its influences and refuses regurgitation.
Blame Game molds those influences to create something that is new and very
refreshing. The churning and weaving of guitarists George Asimakos (ex-Camaro
Crotch) and Andrew Wiggins (ex-Left to Rust) leaves very little to be
desired. Odd time changes and dynamic shifts are just a few of the tricks
that Blame Game has in its hat to leave the audience cheering for more at
just about every stop they make. Recorded during February of 2005.

The Paper Chase and Xiu Xiu cover Nick Cave split 7"
stickfigure 022
tracks:
01. The Paper Chase - God Is In The House
02. Xiu Xiu - Jack The Ripper
This 7” has been three long years in the making.
Originally conceived in November of 2002, finally in November of 2005 this 7” comes into existence.
The Paper Chase start the 7” with an excellent cover of “god is in the house” by Nick Cave.
The Paper Chase completely make the song theirs and the song is a definite must hear for the
reign of GW Bush. On the flipside Xiu Xiu provides listeners with a cover of “jack the ripper”.
Xiu Xiu will stun fans in that Xiu Xiu has decided to prove that Xiu Xiu can “throw down” with
the best. Xiu Xiu’s trademark eclectic morrisey meets experimental pop sound has been tossed
for a decidedly heavy stonerish/grunge feel which all around makes one think that Xiu Xiu got
Thrones and Pearl Jam to cover this song. The cover is in full color, the songs were mastered
by John Golden and the record is limited to 1000 copies.

the sounds of reversal of man, tribes of neurot, daughters and old man gloom together as
one unique package me and him call it us are definitely blazing a new path across the stale
“metal core/emo/noise” scene.

You has spent years creating their new album “believes in patterns” and it was definitely
worth the wait. I Would Set Myself on For You have grown immensely since their debut cd.
Featured on the new cd are a grand total of eleven songs. I Would’s emotive hardcore style
has expanded greatly and comparing them to such bands as still life and portrait are
virtually meaningless now. Utilizing all sorts of different instruments I would now
possess’s a much more distinct and unique sound which is hard to exactly categorize.
While the emotive screamo foundation is still present, I would’s sound now utilize such
influences as pop, Americana and even country. Released July of 2006

Snowden "anti-anti" 2xlp
stickfigure 025
tracks:
1. Like Bullets
2. Anti-Anti
3. My Murmuring Darling
4. Filler Is Wasted
5. Black Eyes
6. Between The Rent And Me
7. Counterfeit Rules
8. Innocent Heathen
9. Stop Your Bleeding
10. Kill The Power
11. Victim Card
12. Sisters
"Snowden has been compared to the Cure and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but the indie rock
outfit carves out their own swarthy sound on their Jade Tree debut, Anti-Anti. Thankfully,
the Atlanta-via-Athens quartet's thawing post-shoegazer/dream pop blend has absolutely
nothing to do with Interpol and the like, thus the album title says it all. Singer/songwriter
Jordan Jeffares' droning vocals and David Payne's reverb-driven guitars surround these
12 nervy melodies for a lush atmosphere of sonic hysteria. So what if it slightly echoes
the classic sounds of '80s post-punk in the process? Producer/engineer Erik Wofford adds
polish to Snowden's slippery moods so songs such as the moaning twitch of "Like Bullets"
and the neurotic punctuality of "Counterfeit Rules" never lose their momentum. Slower cuts
such as "My Murmuring Darling" and "Innocent Heathen" filter through a melancholic ebb and
flow of Chandler Rentz's faint percussion and Corinne Lee's icy bass work. For those who
enjoy the quieter moments of Joy Division and I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness' first
album, Snowden's wavering gloom should be a nice fit for your collection."
- MacKenzie Wilson Released on vinyl in October of 2006.

"Love them or hate them, Zandosis unleash their debut full length cd, "George W Bush Got Straight To Fucking Hell".
Just in time for the mid term elections, Zandosis unleashes a shotgun blast of mayhem. Sounding like Mike Patton
fronting a guitarless Melt Banana on crack complete with such hits as "Dick Cheney bleeding to death on the streets
of Detroit", "Donald rumsfeld buried up to his neck in dogshit with lawnmower on top", "john Ashcroft flattened under
the weight of a 5,200 pound replica of the ten commandments", "tony blair trampled by French poodles", "pat Robertson
plagued by locusts", "karl rove forced to roam the earth forever as one of the living dead feeding on raw sewage"
including the soon to be MTV hit "George W. Bush go straight to fucking hell”. This cd has been six years in the making.
Zandosis were way ahead of their time with most of these hits having been written six years ago.
For those not familiar with the band:
Drummer Stewart Voegtlin started beating on double boilers and copper pots as a wee boy; smashed crockery followed.
Several ad hoc kits later he was slashing and bashing with suburban Death Metal fiends, Lustmordem; terrifying posh
Buckhead youth with rural heathens, Asmodeus, all while air-drumming at home to S.O.B., Bathory and Possessed. Wooed
by the freedoms of late '60s european Jazz, Voegtlin sent the double kick drum to the shed and worked Metal's intensity
into wave and pulse drumming - styles typified by Sunny Murray, Rashied Ali and Dutch madman Han Bennink. There are
blast beats; there are relentless ride cymbal attacks and there's a bit of the unpredictable: conch shell, trombone and
[broken] clarinet are given the selfsame mistreatment. Zandosis gives him the opportunity to do all of this, and then
some, as he and frontman Marshall have threatened to perform a show with only easy chairs and canned beer as instruments.
Bassist Tony Gordon - honestly it's hard to tell if he's playing a Fender bass or if it is playing him. He's got the
most unique bass sound anyone's ever heard, as often it sounds like something completely not a bass (most often it
sounds like two battleships making love). His solo project is called Freebass, and again you'd be hard pressed to
pick out any bass sound. He is the Fist of Dispite responsible for the ensemble Charlie Parker and the long running
Destroy All Music show on WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta.
Vocalist Marshall Avett started the Old Gold label in 1994; been playing with unrecognized geniuses in groups like
More, Mato, Charlie Parker, Petland Toy Faktory, and Zandosis; likes ice cream; has cats named Fatty Nacho and Squeak;
and has never ridden a crest of power like he feels when he announces these songs and launches into the resulting
attack of sound and electricity. If you’ve got a microphone and an amplifier, you’ve got no excuse not to seek the
same feeling.
Released in the Fall of 2006
